Hi All,
Ann here, it's my turn to set the new theme and seeing as we are only a few days away from being visited by the big man in the red suit....I decided it would be good to show some holiday/ Seasonal layouts.

The team will post their layouts when they can, I'm sure you all will understand how busy everyone is at the this time of year.

But to get things started, here is a layout featuring my teens and their younger sister on xmas day.

Hi All, I hope you're all organised for the upcoming week and holidays - may it be fun and stress-free.

I'm only just doing my xmas shopping now but I refuse to let it stress me - 4 more sleeps till xmas and 5 more sleeps until its all over - what is the point of stressing??

Here is a layout I did for a recent competition over at Eidou using their collaboration Mega Digital Kit - Mistletoe & Wine

and here is another version of it, using the more traditional colours, the same kit and of course - the same photo. Lets be honest, how many times can you get your teenager to pose wearing a Santa hat?? I count myself lucky that she did it at all!

Hi there everyone. Adrienne here.....
For our project this time I decided we could all try some background techniques on our layouts. I hope you like my experimentation. The swirls on my LO are stamped using a blend of different coloured chalk inks on clear stamps. Once inked up, spritz the stamp with water and stamp on paper. It works best on watercolour paper as ordinary cardstock curls a bit as it drys. But, hey, it was FUN!! I also used the inks to distress other parts of the LO. I really enjoyed doing this LO. Hope you enjoy trying this technique.

Hi everyone,
My technique for this theme is to use a serviette as a background 'paper'.
This is a really quick and simple technique to do.
Firstly find a serviette that you like and cut it down to fit your page....I tore the edges of mine.
Then peel away the two layers of white backing paper from the printed top piece.
I used a spray adhesive to then attach the now thin layer of tissue paper to my page.
Gently smooth out the tissue to remove any air bubbles underneath and you are then ready to add your photo and embellishments to the page.

Serviettes and tissues then take on a whole new world of possibilities!
Have fun with this technique...

For my take on this one I sewed onto my background paper to make the spider web. It is easier to prepunch the holes in the cardstock before stitching the thread through them.

Sorry for the long delay between the themes. Seems like everyone was extremely busy the last few weeks with SENZ and other work commitments. Anyhows, the new theme is questions and answers something I guess we should do quite frequently with our teenz. If they cooperate that is ;p
Here is mine about Chris, he wasn't so into answering at first but then got into the swing of things. Thanks huni *hugs*

Here is my take on this great theme. It was my eldest son Chris's 18th in the holidays so this was a great time to interview him about some of his childhood memories and dreams for the future. :))) Sarah

Sorry for dragging the chain on this one. I took the letter option. This is a layout I did recently after I'd been grumpy at Ash (probably for a very good reason lol). It was for the Design Your Life class by Cathy Z at Big Picture Scrapbooking.

Just a little note to let you know how much I love you and to tell you that I’m really proud of you.You’re working hard to pass your NCEA Level 3 exams and busy looking for a holiday job to see you through until the start of University next year.You passed your full drivers license last week which is great. You were so thrilled when you came back waving the piece of paper that said you’d passed. A huge difference from a week earlier when you’d come back having failed. You were really angry and upset. I really felt for you but couldn’t do much to relieve your pain.You and Dan seem to get on really well and he is fast becoming part of the furniture. He fits in really well here and is easy to have around. You have a great bunch of friends. Your close ones have changed a bit over the last few years as you all go your own separate ways but the friends you have now are great - almost like daughters to me lol.Anyway - sorry I was grumpy and yelled at you tonight. Teens and their Siblings (or close family)

Hi, Sarah here. I chose "Teens and their Siblings" as the theme this time. I have 5 kids varying in age from 3 to 17 so I have lots of opportunities to record those priceless moments between brothers and sisters. Here is my take on this one. I took the photo last week whilst Jaime (15) and Sophie (3) were just fooling around in front of the TV. Its not a particularly great photo but it is so representative of the relationship that they share right now that I love it.

Michele here, how is everyone?I loved this theme and it couldnt have come at a better time? DD #1 is living away from home now but often calls in home, to raid the cupboards and use the computer.

Ashleigh let out a yell the other night when she got a message from her darling big sister on facebook - saying that she seems to have a wardrobe full of Ashleigh's clothes, but that Ash was welcome to borrow them sometime. (her idea of humour)

It's how their relationship is at the moment, teasing, fighting, "borrowing", complaining about how one gets away with more than the other - Reality! lol

Heya, Ilka here. Chris and his stepsister Ronja are good mates. It's sweet to see how Ronja plays the big sister to perfection at times. And Chris , oh well he's got no choice but to be the little brother;p

Hi everyone

It's my turn to pick the latest theme for Scrap the Teenz and I've chosen "Today You".

You can interpret this anyway you like. In the past, I have taken a random photo of my DD and written things about where she was at that stage in her life. This time I scrapbooked about a really exciting day when she met her idol.

Lianne - James was home from Hamilton where he goes to University on Sunday. It is always so nice just to have him at home.

Ilka - A busy working Sunday for Chris. Fortunately only a shorter shift , so time enough to enjoy the beach with his girlfriend! Might be one of the last working Sundays for a while as uni starts next week.

Sarah here. I love these photos of my 15 yo son having a great time on the swings at the park. They fitted this theme well.

Teens and their Pets

This time our theme is about Teens and Pets. Do they have a pet? Have they had a pet in the past? Would they like a pet? Do they want a pet but can't have one for some reason?

Scrap a LO about your teens and pets or animals they love.

My LO is about Emma and our dog Rio. Rio is such a ratbag of a dog, he digs holes, he gets under the house, he's always up to something. I moan about him but Emma always sticks up for him and says 'but he's so cute, look at him'. LOL, he does know how to be cute sometimes.

Hi All, recently we lost our ginger cat named Gerri, he made the very bad decision to cross the road at night and was sadly hit by a car.

My daughter Stephanie was particularly close to Gerri, he was her baby and she was devastated by his sudden passing, it has been a very hard learning curve for her.

Our house is very quiet without him around, we miss him a lot.
Here is what i created.

Hi all - Michele here and first time posting on blogger for me so fingers crossed I can work this ok. I've created a digital layout of my dd Ashleigh,with my 3rd baby Missy. Missy is my shadow and although Ash gives me a hard time about how I spoil her, she is also a little guilty of it as well. We have 3 cats, 2 males and one female....as far as we're concerned - Missy is one of the girls!

Hi Everyone

Here's a quickie from me - I had trouble finding a picture of my older kids with our pets (we have 3 cats and a dog) although I have lots of my 3-yo daughter tormenting the poor creatures. Anyway, Chris very kindly posed for me with our dribbly cat Ebony, though the resulting photo hardly looks candid and 'natural' LOL.

Hi there scrapping buddies - Adrienne here - I have to apologise for the late submission - but I just LOVE my little westie puppy and had to finish this LO to share with you all. She is truly such a bright light in our lives - isn't it amazing what love and joy a pet can bring to family life. Tessa is so mischievious but so cute that we just spoil her with love and attention. She had a wonderful time helping Justin to build a water feature in the garden!!!

Heya everyone :) Ilka here, my LO is about Cosmo, the puppy my son's girlfriend got for her birthday end of last year. Chris isn't really a dogperson but Cosmo does not care, he adores Chris and won him over in record time;p Too cute!

Hi all, i hope you have all had a great weekend and managed to stay warm and dry in this horrible winter weather?

I just wanted to share two layouts with you.

The first is a beautiful layout sent in by Michelle Frisby and features her daughter on her 18th birthday.....gorgeous work Michelle and thanks for sharing it with us.

Milestone Birthdays

Hi all, Ann here and it was my turn to choose the new theme this time around.

Our teens all look forward to those all important milestone birthdays, you know the ones i mean...Becoming a teenager at 13, the all important 16th and officially being recognised as an adult at 18.

My layout is about my son Josh last year on his 16th birthday.
Even scarier is the fact that he is turning 17 in 3 weeks....eeeek!

Heya Ilka here, mine is about Chris's 18th Birthday. It was not such a big deal for him after all, but I guess that's because he did a lot of growing up over the last two years prior. But adult or not, he'll always be my baby boy and he knows it LOL!
Lianne - for Emma's 15th birthday she just wanted a family day out. She wanted to get her nose pierced first then go to the zoo. So we spent a relaxed day at the zoo, then went out to dinner on the way home. Was an awesome day and she loved it.

Achievements

Hi there teen scrappers.

Adrienne here to start the ball rolling with scrapping "teen achievements". All our teens achieve at some level but often we need to show them that they can achieve anything if they just try.... This sentiment was the inspiration for my layout. John and the boys went on their first-ever trip to the snow last year and learnt how to ski. Not only had the boys never seen snow, they had no idea how to walk on it ..... let alone ski! They had a quick lesson and then a long practice session .... They had their best-ever fun and achieved a new skill (well, almost).

Hope you all have fun with this topic. (P.S. I had such fun with the snowflakes which I have never been able to use before....Yee Haa!!)

Hi, Sarah here. This is my take on this one. Winning the Westlake junior 1500m race and setting a new school record was a real buzz for my youngest son, Adam. Hi All...Ann here.
My layout for this theme is about the achievements my daughter made at college, i wanted her to be able to look back later on and see just how well she had done at school.
Lianne - We were so proud when James was picked and sponsored to go on the Spirit of New Zealand. He had the most amazing time, one he will never forget. When I showed him the LO he got the map out and showed me where they went again it was great for him to reminisce this wonderful part of his life. I used this gorgeous NZ fabric on this LO, the fabric has these cool blocks of designs which I cut out with jac paper attached to the back (makes it easy to cut fabric) and mounted some on chipboard randomly to give a 3D effect.

Dislikes/fears theme

Heya everyone, Ilka here. This months theme is dislikes or fear. That can be the big or the little things.

I chose Chris's dislike of raw tomatoes, he really really hates them. But he loves anything made with processed tomatoes! Go figure;p

Lianne's gorgeous LO features her daughter Emma's fear of spiders. Here is my take - Chris has a real fear of needles so being a blood donor for the first time was a HUGE deal for him! :)Sarah
When i asked Stephanie to make up a list of her dislikes so i could put them on a layout, the only thing that she could come up with is her dislike of the colour pink.
So here's my take on Ilka's theme using Steph's dislike.

Hi there scrapping bloggers. Adrienne here. THANK YOU for allowing me the privledge of contributing to this great blog. WOW, What inspiration this blog is for those of us with teens. Sometimes it is hard to find a good way to scrap our "almost adults" in a way which captures this age group and still be acceptable to the teen being scrapped. I often hear "Oh, Mom. How can you use THAT photo!!"

I am trying out new techniques and finding a new style at the moment so all help is welcome.......

I have three boys - Justin who is 18, Sheldon - 15 and Andrew is almost 13. Three teenage boys is quite a handful but then most of you know that anyway...

Shell Honig sent through this great layout about her daughter...

The journalling she added is very touching, lovely work Shell.

This trio of canvas's was created by Shell's daughter, Krystal aged 15 yrs.

She chose 3 4x12 canvases, used the colours from her bedroom and a quote
from the wall of the gym and came up with this canvas trio for her wall.

How clever is this young lady?

Teen Fashion theme

Hi Everyone, Sarah here. This month it is my turn to chose the theme. Whilst I was pondering the possibilities my youngest son adam (the family fashionista) bowled into the room, wearing his 17 year old brother's jeans and designer T. His hair was spiked with what looked like at least two tubs of gel. Thats when the idea of a 'Teen fashion" theme occurred to me! I originally intended to do a page about my kids bulging (and ever changing) wardrobes but when I was looking through my older photos it suddenly occurred to me how many different hair styles (and hair colours) that Adam has tried out over the last two years. My page just came together from there. Look forward to seeing everyone elses takes on this one.

James was proudly showing me his latest purchases from the Op Shop (poor uni student, LOL) and he was saying this is what everyones wearing. Then it occured to me I could do my LO about this, so he let me take some photos and voila here it is.

When I heard we were doing 'fashion' I knew I wanted to do a little spin on those fashion magazine pages that show the 'star' and 'the how to get the look';p
So here's what's hot -according to Chris. Actually I rather like the way he dresses these days!

Teens & their Grandparents

Hi all,
Ann here and it's my turn to choose the theme this time around.

For a while now i have wanted to scrap a layout using photos of my two teens and their grandparents (so it was easy to set the theme this time...lol)

Growing up, my two grandmothers were a very important part of my life so i'm overjoyed that my teens have amazing grandparents who are always there for them.

This theme doesn't have to be just about grandparents, does your teen look up to an older member of their family?
Perhaps an aunt or uncle or cousin?...Anyone who your teen admires and respects.

Teenz and their Wheels

Hey everyone, I chose the theme this time, inspired by events that happened about a month ago with my youngest teen. He drove his car when he knew full well that he shouldn't as 1-it wasn't legal & 2-he only has his learners license - and here in New Zealand, that means no driving alone... not to mention with a non-licensed passenger & 3 we had taken his keys off him, as we were going out. Anyway you guessed it... he got caught! So as every self respecting scrapbooker should ... I decided to scrap it!!!!!(it's a bit like racing for your camera first when your toddler hurts themselves).
The rest of the team will upload their layouts as they complete them. Of course 'Teenz and their wheels' don't have to be just about cars - you choose your own take on the theme.
I can't wait to see them all.

Food Glorious Food!

Hi everyone - happy new year. All the scrap the teenz contributors live downunder and we have been soaking up the sun down here and enjoying our summer holidays so we apologise for the lack of action around here! But we are back and raring to go with fresh new ideas for ways to scrap those sometimes difficult to scrap teen years.The theme we have chosen this fortnight is food and our teens relationship with it. The teen years can be so busy and food is often something grabbed in a rush and usually of the fast food variety it seems (or at least that's how it is in this house!) Gone are those days when you had much of a say over what they are putting in their mouths, and as one of our blog contributors, Sarah says: To think that I worried about them not having a balanced diet as toddlers!Anyway, without further ado, here are some ways that we have tackled the subject of food and teens in our pages. Enjoy!

We wanted to capture some of the funny things they say or ways they speak at this time of their lives, so that is our inspiration theme for you this time - scrap some of those funny expressions they use or words that seem to keep cropping up in their conversation (keep it clean people lol!) or the different ways they talk around their friends compared to how they speak around adults. Here are some layouts from the team to get you started...

This layout manages to be humorous and poignant all at the same time and is about a time that all us parents of teens will be facing in the not too distant future. Check out the fabulous journalling below:

After fighting and screaming at each other for the last few months about being responsible and acting like an adult if you want to be treated like an adult (that was me) and not being a baby anymore, nor having to follow rules and being able to do what she likes (that was her) we finally arrived at this day.

We both wanted it - it was definitely time! Time for my little girl to venture out on her own - so that she could see how great she’d had it at home (me again), so that she could do what she liked, when she liked without having the oppression of her mother telling her what to do (yep that was her).Even with this knowledge and the promise of freedom (for both of us)....we cried!

It was a big moment for us - her raiding the cupboard as she ran out the door, and me moving my craft stuff into her old bedroom - but then it hit me that she was leaving and that an era of our lives was over - another one just beginning.

It’s not like she was moving cities and I’d never see her again - she comes into work 3 mornings a week to help out in the office and comes home on the odd occasion for a decent meal and to use the computer - but this door has closed (and locked!! - me lol) and we can now move on to a different stage in our relationship.

Change can be exciting, but we can still feel a little sad.

Scrap the Extremes!

Okay time for a new theme. My family has just been on a recent holiday to a place that has all sorts of extreme things to do...you know like bungy jumping etc. and the teens with us couldn't wait to try everything while the adults were a lot more cautious (or in my case downright chicken!). This got me thinking about how the teens is often a time when you think you are ten foot tall and bulletproof and have no fear. Now I put this to the team and not all of them agreed with me, seems there are also some very cautious teens out there and thank goodness for that! But we still thought we would scrap pages about our teenz extremism (is that a word?) or lack thereof as the case may be. So why don't you give it a go...if you have an extreme teen scrap some of the crazy things they do, or if you have a cautious teen scrap about something they have done that would have been considered extreme for them. Here are our takes on this idea:

Ilka scrapped about her son and his girlfriends new found hobby of baking. Ooh yum Ilka, wish I could get mine to do some baking willingly.

Lianne - I've scrapped about my son's surfing - he has been surfing competitively since he was 13 - these photos are of him in a heat at the Maori Nationals last November. For extra fun try scrapping a 6x12 layout. I'm loving this size at the moment.Jo has scrapped about her daughters love of dancing - and the great friendships she has made.

Debbie Kingston sent in this cool layout about her son receiving an Award for Excellence in Multi Media. Wow what a great achievement Debbie. He produced a video game that won him the award. Fantastic.

Our theme for this week is scrap those crazy things you do for your teen, suggested by Judy Gallegos. Thanks Judy for your great theme idea. I can't believe you went out and got your son and his girlfriend (I presume) some Salsa Verde Dorito chips and took them to her place, oh actually yes I can. The things we do for them!! And here is Jo's layout. Did you really scan their faces Jo. Crazy alright!! LOL, aren't they hard case sometimes.
And here is mine. Yes I drove all the way down to James at University to take him some bits and pieces he needed to get a new licence for ID so he could go out clubbing for his eighteenth birthday. I know, CRAZY aye, but that's what it's all about isn't it and we just want them to enjoy their young life.Please leave us some love cause we love to be loved too.

Last year was a fantastic year for Josh. He passed NCEA Level 3, got his licence, got accepted into a Bachelor of Science in Applied Animal Technology and amongst other things he knew where he wanted to be in life - a great achievement - fab idea for a teen layout!

Ready for a new theme?

Okay then...this theme is a bit kinder to our teens than showcasing their attitudes to having their photos taken, or their messy bedrooms lol! This time we are going to scrap their achievements. We are all so busy with our lives and it is a busy time being a teenager and sometimes we forget to sit down and tell them how proud we are of them and what they do. So that is our theme for the next fortnight...scrapping those things they do that make you incredibly proud of them. Another Teen Bedroom

Sorry I am late ladies...had the week from hell trying to set up wireless internet for the kid's computer so we can put it in the dining room where I can see what they are up to on it! Mum's of teens I know you will relate to this totally lol! Anyhoo here is my teen's room - it is an atrocious mess - this was a good day, you should see it now! but there are some places in there that I like to look at when I venture in, her nicknack dresser is always tidy for some reason, even though her desk is piled with folded washing, rubbish and general paraphanalia. She has this cool clear umbrella she has hung from the curtain rod and filled with stuff and along with the rainblow she has painted and hung on the wall it looks really funky, and her porcelain baby doll in the moses basket I used when Sarah was a babe is never covered in junk either. So I called this layout "Some calm among the chaos" to show that there are some nice parts in an otherwise chaotic mess! Glad to see there are other messy rooms out there and it is NOT a reflection of my bad parenting lol.

Teen bedrooms

Here's an idea for you!! Take a photo of your teens bedroom, probably messy and gross but hopefully lovely and tidy, hehe. And scrap it!! They'll thank you one day.
I kind of wish I could look back into my bedroom now and see what it was like - messy, tidy, I can't remember actually. What was on the walls, on the floors, hanging around, LOL, like Emmas room here. Our first layout is from Sharon Manning of her 'cheeky' but cute daughter. Capturing the everyday stuff with teenagers, LOL."You can dress them up and they still make faces" said Julie Allen-Waters when she sent in this layout of her son dressed in a suit.This layout sent in by Lisa Warner really cracked me up, of her son and daughter in a moment of not wanting to have their photo taken. Hello and welcome to Scrap The Teenz

It's not easy raising teenagers and just as hard to get photos of them to scrapbook. They're hardly ever home and when they are they're often sleeping or wishing they were hanging with their friends or boyfriends/girlfriends. They are very independent and only love us when they want money or transport.
But really most of the time they are OK and quite a pleasure to have around. Sometimes you can have great conversations with them too. AND they can be very entertaining at times and give you a good laugh.
Which brings me to why Jo and I have started this blog. We find, having teenagers, there is not alot of inspiration out there for scrapping teen layouts. So we'd like to dedicate this blog to just that. Along the lines of Scrap the Boys and Scrap the Girls we'd like to bring you Scrap the Teenz.
Once a fortnight we'll post a particular theme, just for inspiration. And we'd like you to submit your teen layouts so that we can post them on the blog for other people to see and get inspiration from. It will be a gallery of teen layouts. You can use the theme we've posted to inspire you to do a teen layout or you can just send in a teen layout.
We are also very lucky to have the super amazing Kim Archer helping us out. I have adored Kim's scrapbooking for as long as I have been scrapbooking and was rapt she was keen to do this.
The other thing you can do is send in any cool teen related links that might be of interest to parents of teenagers or teenagers themselves e.g. food for teens, cool teen digi stuff, cool teen clothes sites, ANYTHING.

I'd also like to thank Lee Thoresen for agreeing to be a contributor to our teen blog, Lee has been published in recent issues of Up2Scrap magazine with her beautiful, creative work and is a school teacher and mother of teenagers.

So without further ado here are some layouts to inspire you I hope.

Try scrapping those photos that just as you push the button they ruin it by poking out their tongue with food in their mouth or making crazy signs and faces or throwing their shoe at you, LOL. Have fun and we look forward to seeing your layouts.
